Why Broadband?

I thought you said Information Superhighway?

Hard to believe now, but only ten years hardly anyone had heard of the Internet.

Most of us have experienced the Internet through email and web pages using a dial-up phone connection from our computer.

It's often slow and laborious and even unreliable. It's also rather expensive when paying by the minute. Our use of the internet is discouraged by the quality and tariff.

Enter broadband...

Now we are starting to hear lots of talk about broadband. The government is committed to a huge uptake of broadband in homes and public institutions.

Imagine never having to wait for the modem to dial the internet again. Imagine web pages which load almost at the touch of a button. Imagine being able to send and receive high quality images or music recordings in real time. How about video phone-calls or gaming with people all around the world?

This is what we mean by broadband.

The whole way in which we use the Internet is changed when we break open the bottle-neck of the dial-up modem and banish metered usage to history.

This is what we mean when we say:
  • Around 10x faster than a dial-up connection
  • Always on

And you will still have your phone available for plain old phone-calls while the computer's online.
